The project is a result of a competition launched in Brasov, Romania that consisted in rebuilding the small area surrounding the statue of Romanian composer Ciprian Porumbescu. The statue is located on the corner of a small intersection, in the old town near the entrance to Gheorghe Dima park. The competition asked for a way to enhance the statue's visibility and restore it's importance in the area while considering the relations with the historical tours and the park.

Our answer was to rise the whole area to a comfortable 40cm on a wooden deck in order to separate the space from the busy streets around it. At the corner towards the intersection we placed a tall street lamp in order to draw attention to the area, a panel with information about the composer and the touristic tour. The furniture is simple, a wood and metal bench with a water fountain and a inclined grass area for the summer. The statue itself remains untouched, but the base is covered in corten steel that provides a little bit of contrast to the green landscape behind it.
